Faith Montessori 2nd Grade will focus on the children as individuals and help them grow in reading, math, science, and Bible knowledge. Music, art, and gym are also areas where the child will learn to always do their personal best. My teachers will follow the state standards for Math, Reading, and Science in cooperation with the Montessori materials.
At Faith we will strive to lead children through an educational experience that allows them to reach their God given potential.
Faith Montessori is committed to help children grow spiritually with a Montessori approach to education.
We use a variety of teaching methods, materials, and thematic units to keep learning fun and engaging. Our first, second and third grade curriculum covers 180 days of instruction based on the Indiana State Standards.
We take a systematic phonics approach to reading instruction as we strive to build a solid foundation for a love of reading. A love for books is encouraged by centering each thematic unit on a chapter book which is read aloud each day and expanded upon by other fiction and nonfiction picture books and activities.
We recognize the importance of understanding foundational mathematical concepts. We use a variety of techniques including manipulatives to help students truly understand math. Topics such as time, money, shapes, fractions, as well as addition subtraction multiplication and division are covered in 1st-3rd grade
We understand the importance of focused learning time as well as downtime. The students have two recesses each day which not only provide the students with a well earned break, but also a time for unstructured imaginative play with peers. (outside as often as the weather permits)
We strive to keep our student/teacher ratio low so each child receives the individual instruction they need.
We believe in the importance of seeing God in our daily lives. We intentionally start each day with a devotional and prayer, while recognizing God moments are sprinkled throughout our day and curriculum.
